Working Party on Mixing of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE-WPM)

CZECH WORKING GROUP MIXING

This group has been in its existence over thirty years and since its beginning it has freely associated workers from universities, research institutes, constructional and project bureaus just as people from the industry where agitators have been used.

Main research centers have been situated in the folloving places:

  1. Czech Technical University, Department of Chemical and Food Industry Equipment in Prague.
  2. Chemical Technology Institute, Department of Chemical Engineering in Prague.
  3. Czech Academy of Sciences, Institute of Chemical Processes in Prague.
  4. Research Institute of Chemical Equipment, Department of Fermentation and Mixing Equipment (since 1993 transformed into TECHMIX Ltd.) in Brno.
  5. Technical University Brno, Institute of Process and Ecological Engineering in Brno.

In the past there was a strong connection between these research centers and agitator manufacturers, especially in trust Chepos. At present traditional agitator workshops mostly have altered their production program and agitators are manufactured by several smaller producers.

Working group under the chairmanship of Dr.Seichter from TECHMIX Brno (since 1990) has been promoting and securing the contacts between academic and industry working places i.e. scientific and research field of work on one side and designers and users of mixing equipments on the other side.

Working group MIXING has been meeting at least twice a year mostly on the occassion of CHISA, either national or international, conferences. There have been Czech national conferences on MIXING completely organized by this working group under the auspices of Czech Chemical Engineering Society.

Last three conferences on MIXING were held in hotels at Brno´s lake in 1991, 1994, 1997 with more than 100 participants. Next 12th MIXING conference is going to be in May 2000 again in Brno, where meeting of working group MIXING is on the program too. This conference program comprises contributions of authors from Czechia, Slovakia and Poland and covers problems from the area of:

Working group MIXING has been cooperating too on the preparation of the next 14th International CHISA Congress in Prague (August 2000).
